A message from the Board Chair
For over a century SHELD has provided reliable and affordable electricity to the ratepayers of South Hadley while also providing unparalleled response and resolution to outages and problems. The Board of Commissioners is committed to continuing this tradition and to providing enhanced transparency of operations and financial performance to the ratepayers and to the community.
We are excited to work towards modernizing the Department to make ratepayer requests, changes and payments more convenient and to expanding the services offered by SHELD to include fiber connectivity for both businesses and residents. We look forward to further investment in our infrastructure and to partnering with surrounding communities to create even greater reliability and redundancy of electric services.
We continue to work on enhancing incentive programs for residents and businesses for improvements focused on conservation and increasing efficiency. We also continue to investigate opportunities to support and invest in community based renewable energy projects focused on sustainability to protect our environment.
We are working to partner with other Town Departments and Government on economic development initiatives and incentives to retain and attract businesses to our community and are committed to a South Hadley Falls presence and participation in the redevelopment plans for the Falls to the extent possible so that SHELD can be a conduit for the ongoing development and rejuvenation of the area.
And we will continue our ongoing commitment to the safety of our ratepayers, employees and community as a whole so our Town continues to be one of the greatest communities in the Valley to live, work, learn and play.
