Be Alert For "Eversource"-related Scam Calls

October 27, 2017

SHELD has learned that ratepayers in our service area are being targeted by a phone scam. In the scam, the caller pretends to represent Eversource, an investor-owned utility, and claims they are collecting an overdue electricity bill.

The scam call threatens the homeowners that their electricity will be cut off if they don’t make an immediate payment by credit card over the phone.

These calls are a scam!

Please know that SHELD customers will never be confronted with such a call demanding immediate payment; in the event an account is delinquent we send several written notices, in accordance with DPU regulations.

Eversource does not provide electricity to homes in our service area. If you get a call from someone claiming to be collecting on a debt for Eversource, hang up and notify South Hadley police.
