Open and Accountable
The Light Board sets utility policy, and oversees SHELD’s operations through the department’s Manager. As local elected officials, the Light Board is open to the input of South Hadley’s residents and business owners.
Light Board meetings are open to the public — your involvement is welcomed! Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month in the Selectboard Meeting Room at 116 Main Street (Town Hall) and start promptly at 6:00pm. Call our office for agenda information and to confirm meeting dates, times, and locations. Agendas are also posted to the town’s website at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
The attached Code of Conduct sets forth a standard of conduct for the South Hadley Electric Light Department Board of Commissioners under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As an elected public official, a Board of Commissioners member has taken an oath to adhere to all federal laws, the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the bylaws of the Town of South Hadley.
